The Ethics and anti corruption commission has recommended for prosecution 3 governors and 1 former governor over their involvement in corruption.

Speaking to the press the COMMISION CEO Abdi Mohammed has said they are also investigating former Cabinet secretaries and other senior government officials.

“These investigation files have been submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), with recommendations to prosecute 82 of the cases. Notably, four of these cases involve current governors, former County Governors, two former Cabinet Secretaries, a Principal Secretary, and CEOs and MDs of various State Corporations,” he said.

“In addition, the Commission is at an advanced stage of investigating five sitting Governors and 11 former Governors.”

Although the anti graft body did not reveal the names of the public officials; it summoned Garissa Governor Nadhif Jama to appear before it next week in connection with investigations concerning the management of public funds and staff recruitment at the county.

The Governor is set to appear before the commission next week Monday.

“To facilitate the investigation, kindly avail yourself for interview and statement recording at our Nairobi Integrity Centre offices located at Jakaya Kikwete/Valley Road junction on 25th August, 2025 at 10.00 a.m.,” the summons to the governor reads in part.

Abdi has also intimated that they are yet to begin investigations on claims raised by President William Ruto about MPs receiving and demanding for bribes during the execution of their duties.

“We are yet to get those claims for now, but we will act on them once the report is here,” he said.
