Government employees at the Eastern Region Headquarters in Embu Town were on Monday 18th August 2025 caught off-guard as Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku made an impromptu visit to their offices.

The C.S who has been making similar impromptu visits inspected the offices where he found that several employees had yet not reported to work even though it was way past the official opening hours for government offices.

CS Ruku locked out the government officers who reported late to work.

“Most of us in public service do not wake up at the same time. The private sector is working hard for this economy, but some of us are not doing our part.” The C.S Said.

Ruku has revealed that the government is in the final stages of developing an app to monitor the productivity of all public servants in Kenya.

The app aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and transparency across all government offices.

“My team is developing an application to track the time civil servants report to work, their productivity and the time they clock out.” Ruku revealed.

All Civil servants will be required to download the application that is set to be launched by the end of October.

While hailing services at the Huduma Centre, Ruku specifically flagged the Ministry of Education offices in Embu County for alleged laxity in their work.
