President William Ruto has called on various arms of government to join hands in the fight against corruption.

Speaking when he launched The Devolution Conference 2025, the Head of State has particularly blamed the Legislature for demanding for bribes from members of the executive and governors who appear before various committees.

“There is something going on in our legislature that we must call out. There is money being demanded from the executive and governors from people who go before parliament for accountability.” The president has said.

“Mr. Speaker it cannot be possible that committees of parliament demand to be paid to write reports or look the other way” The head of state has added.

Further on, the Head of state has called on the Judiciary not to be lenient to persons accused of embezzling public funds.

President Ruto has expressed reservations with the concept of anticipatory bail saying it has hindered anti- corruption agencies from holding to account those who steal public money.

“ We have innovation that is only available in Kenya that allows someone who is accused of corruption not to be prosecuted- Something called anticipatory bail. ”

The head of state has called for a whole of society approach in the fight against graft.
