A.I.C Church Calls for C.R.E. to be Retained as a Compulsory Subject

The Africa Inland Church AIC Kenya has called on the government to retain Christian Religious Education CRE as a compulsory subject.

Speaking during the inaugural edition of the National Conference for the principals of AIC Kenya sponsored schools Rev Joseph Kamaye who is the National secretary of AIC sponsored Schools has said religious studies is vital in building character amongst learners.

Rev Kamaye has also said making the religious studies an optional subject may to decline in morality in the country.

“Our stand as AIC is that we are petitioning the government that CRE should be taught as compulsory subject because it moulds character of leaners.” The Reverend has said.

Dr. William Sugut who is the Head of the Directorate of Secondary Education at the ministry of education on his part has emphasized the importance of schools ensuring that they nurture and bring up learners with high moral standards.

“If our education system was well fixed we would not be talking about Corruption because integrity would be inbuild,” Sugut said.

The two day conference that was opened yesterday by AIC Presiding Bishop Abraham Mulwa brought together principals of A.I.C schools across the country to discuss matters affecting education.

The opening day focused on role of chaplains in schools.
