President William Ruto has nominated John Cox Lorionokou as the new Registrar of Political Parties and Agatha Wanjiku Wahome as the Assistant Registrar of Political Parties.
In a press statement, statehouse spokesperson Hussein Mohamed has said the head of state has also nominated Claris Awuor as the new chair of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).
This follows Duncan Ojwang’s decision to turn down the role, citing personal reasons and a perceived conflict of interest.
“In light of the foregoing, the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs is directed to cease any further consideration of the nominee,” National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula told Members of Parliament on August 13.
In other news the head of state has announced a significant realignment in Kenya’s diplomatic core after making 20 ambassadorial nominations.
Among key appointments is that of Maurice Odhiambo who has been nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to the Great Britain taking over from former State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu.
Former Cabinet secretary Florence Bore has been nominated as ambassador to Namibia while Amb. Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri will represent Kenya Turkey
